2018 Hero of Ability – Amy
Amy is an 11-year-old, Grade 5 student at Irwin Elementary School. Amy has Cerebral Palsy, a seizure disorder, developmental delay and visual difficulties. Amy uses a manual wheelchair and can walk a short distance with a crutch and caregiver.

2018 Hero of Ability – Arynn
Arynn is a delightful 4-year-old with myoclonic epilepsy and development delay. Arynn has been receiving extraordinary care from the Centre, including Physiotherapy, Speech/Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Supported.

A Night to Dream
On May 25, 2017, the BC Centre for Ability hosted the 18th annual Dining for Dreams Gala, celebrating this year’s Heroes of Ability; Five outstanding individuals served by the BC Centre for Ability, who were recognized for demonstrating resilience in everyday life and inspiring others to reach for the sky.

4 Year Old Burnaby Resident Celebrated as Hero of Ability

2017 Hero of Ability - Vivien
Vivien was diagnosed with a rare heart disease and failure to thrive as an infant, but was able to overcome this hurdle with her supportive family and the dedicated Early Intervention Therapy (EIT) program team at the BC Centre for Ability.

Cora, a bright and funny four-year-old girl, has cerebral palsy. She is thriving today thanks to her unyielding spirt, hard work and support from her family and the Early Intervention and Supported Child Development team and Therapy Services.

2017 Hero of Ability - Colton
The Community Brain Injury Program for Children & Youth (CBIPCY) team at the BC Centre for Ability (Centre), worked closely and collaboratively with Colton to regain his speech and mobility after experiencing a cardiac arrest resulting in an anoxic/ischemic brain injury.

2017 Heroes of Ability - Gabby
Gabby is a soft-spoken, mild mannered 13 year old with a bright smile that lights up his whole face. He is actively participating in school, making friends and enjoys time teaching his family new skills thanks to the Stepping Stones Program at the BC Centre for Ability.
