Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Statement
At BC Centre for Ability, we have a commitment to Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in our workplace and the work we do. As an organization that conducts community-based services for people with disabilities, we recognize the intersections of identity that often accompany the experience of disability and their interactions interpersonally and societally. Our goal is to create safe and inclusive spaces for our clients, staff, and the broader community, specifically those who experience systemic/structural discrimination and marginalization.
We are also committed to Truth and Reconciliation, and work internally and externally to support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. We specifically recognize Call 92 and are committed to fully implementing Call 92 within our organization.
To aid in the execution of our EIA goals and commitment, we have implemented a EIA Committee. The EIA Committee is voluntary, always open to new membership, and is open to staff of all departments, identities and backgrounds. The EIA Committee serves as a resource and filter to apply EIA practices and views to events, policies, and procedures at the Centre.
We recognize that the landscape of EIA is ever-changing, and our commitment encompasses taking these changes in stride and applying them where necessary.
