Yeram began working at BCCFA in September 2020. She started as a casual Social Worker supporting different programs at the Centre and now she is an Early Intervention Social Worker for the Van East Region.
Why did you start working at BCCFA?
“While working as an out-of-school care program supervisor a couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to work with a lovely SCD consultant from BCCFA. I became curious to learn more about the centre and the different programs that it offered. I knew once I finished my social work studies, I wanted to be a part of this community. I love getting to know and working with amazing families every day. Each family has a unique story to tell and it’s a privilege to be a part of their journey.”
What makes you proud to work at BCCFA?
“The sense of community makes me proud to work at BCCFA. The continuous opportunities to learn from families and colleagues evolve my work and keep me growing!”
Outside of work, Yeram enjoys going on walks, baking and reading. She also uses the knowledge she has gained by working at BCCFA to support Korean families in the community who are hoping for support in systems navigation, advocacy, and challenging transitions.
She also dedicates time to re-charging – allowing that time to look different every day. Somedays she spends this time watching the Great Canadian Bake Show or making a to-do list.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
“I used to be part of an a cappella team when I was in school.”
Yeram’s favourite movie is The Sound of Music, and her favourite food is a croissant, paired with a coffee.
