Pacific Blue Cross (PBC)

First time user for PBC? Start by creating an account as a Plan Member and you’ll be able to see an overview what coverages you and your family members receive.

Once you log into your account, the main page will find all sorts of user friendly buttons. For a general scope of your benefits, there is a “learn about your membership” section, from here, you will find information on Group Benefits, Personal Health Insurance and Travel Insurance.

You can also submit any eligible claims online, just make sure to have a direct deposit set up and you will receive a confirmation in little as 2 business days!

Employee Family Assistance Program Information

Employees enrolled in the EFAP plan can access the benefit on the web portal, or by calling the EFAP provider Homewood. There’s no need for ID numbers for the EFAP plan, we only have it on the EFAP invoice for our premium billing purposes. When a member or their dependents call in to access EFAP they will be asked to identify their name and the name of their employer.

The web link is pbc-efap.ca and when you click on “sign up” at the top of the page you will be given the option to sign up as an employee or employer.

EFAP eligibility and accessing the benefit

Eligibility for the EFAP benefit is more flexible than the core benefits. To qualify under Policy 79701 an employee needs to be a full-time or part-time status working at least 20 hours or more per week, and there is no waiting period.

Municipal Pension Plan

Mandatory enrolment rules require that all eligible employees
must be enrolled in the plan. Employees who do not have a
choice about being enrolled cannot sign a waiver, and they
must be enrolled in the Plan immediately.

Employees in the mandatory enrolment group include:

• regular, full-time employees in a permanent position,
• regular, full-time employees in a permanent position
who have not completed their probation period but are
employed in a continuous, full-time capacity with the same
employer for 12 months,
• employees who are not permanent but who are employed
on a continuous, full-time basis with the same employer for
12 months,
• employees who are not full-time but who fill a permanent,
full-time position on a temporary, continuous basis for
12 months,
• new employees who are already contributing to the plan
through another Municipal Pension Plan employer,
• existing employees who start contributing to the plan
through another Municipal Pension Plan employer,
• new employees who were contributing to the plan through
any Plan employer with a break in service of less than one
month and the employee has not applied for a pension, and employees who are required to enrol by resolution of the
employer, collective agreement, letter of understanding,
memorandum of understanding, etc.
